Employment with the South Ogden City Fire Department
The South Ogden City Fire Department is a "combination department" in that we have two types of employees; career or 'full-time' personnel and paid part-time personnel. Our career personnel are assigned various positions within the department, ranging from the 24hour shift / combat members to 40hr work week / daytime and administrative personnel. The 24hr shift / combat positions for the full-time members are covered by three Platoons whose personnel are on on duty from 7:00am to 7:00am. This coverage is done on the rotating A, B, C schedule with personnel usually working a 24 hour shift, having 24 hours off for a rotation of 3 shifts and then being off for 4 days. Paid part-time personnel are generally on 12 hour shifts augmenting and supplementing staffing levels. Part-time shifts are from 6:00am to 6:00pm and 6pm to 6am (24 hour shifts for part-time members are also available).
