INTER AGENCY
PRESS RELEASE
June 25, 2007

The Fire Chiefs and Fire Marshals of North View, Ogden, South Ogden, and the Weber Fire District have issued the following restrictions regarding fire works and open fires effective immediately and remaining in force until October 1, 2007.

The current conditions of vegetation in our area have created an extreme fire hazard, the worst in many years. Due to these conditions we are banning the use of All fireworks and open fires in the restricted areas unless specifically approved by the Fire Marshal of your area, except fires in approved fire pits and improved camp grounds. The restricted areas in Weber County are defined as, east of SR89, starting at the mouth of Weber Canyon, up to Harrison Blvd. North to Mountain Road, north to 3300 North. Then north of 3300 North to the Ogden Brigham Canal and north of the Ogden Brigham Canal to the north county line at SR 89. We ask that the remainder of the community follow some common sense guide lines when using fire works:
-Follow label instructions.
-Have an adult present at all times.
-Never point or throw fireworks at another person.
-Use fireworks only outdoors in a clear area at least 20 feet away from buildings and vehicles.
-Never carry fireworks in your pocket or shoot them in a metal or glass container.
-Light one item at a time and then move back quickly.
-Keep a bucket of water or garden hose ready.
-Fire works may be discharged three days before, the day of, and three days after the 4th and 24th of July.

Only the use of fire works approved for sale in Utah by the State Fire Marshals office are allowed anywhere in Weber County. Possession, ignition or display of any firework other than a Class C Common Fire Works is a criminal offence. Class C Common Fire Works are sold legally in Utah. If a fire work travels more than 10 feet horizontally or goes more than 15 feet vertically, it is most likely an illegal fire work. Your local fire department will be patrolling these areas while this high fire hazard exists.

We wish you all a happy and safe Holiday Season. If you have any questions, please contact your local Fire Marshal.
