Spring Clean Up - Open Burning
During the month of April most every year, the Environmental Protection Agency allows property owners to conduct "Open Burning". This is specific to ridding brush, weeds, lawn debris and other yard waste by burning small piles on your property. As part of neighborhood and private property Spring clean up, the South Ogden City Fire Department provides the permits necessary for conducting these clean up burns. The permits are $10 which covers the entire burn period allowed by the EPA.
The following link provides instructions and rules for conducting Open Burns. Feel free to download and print the form, having it handy as a tool in assisting you to prepare for your burn and the required site inspection.

To get your permit, please stop by Fire Station 81 located in the South Ogden Municipal Building, Public Safety section. There you can set up an appointment for the site inspection. The Deputy Fire Marshal will visit your burn location with the permit, and if everything is in order, the permit will be approved and signed. However, the permit becomes void if smoke from your fire is reported to be causing breathing difficulties or is an irritant to your neighbors. To help avoid this, we recommend you advise your neighbors ahead of time of your intent, your tentative burning time frame, and your pending Fire Department permit. Note: The permit is only good for residence and property within South Ogden City limits. Property owners adjacent to or outside South Ogden City must obtain a permit through the proper respective agency.
