Outdoor Cooking and Recreational Fires within South Ogden City
In accordance with Utah State Fire Prevention law and the International Fire Code, outdoor cooking fires and/or recreational "camp" type fires require a permit. The South Ogden City Fire Department can provide these permits for $10 per season. An outdoor cooking fire or recreational fire is one that is conducted in a pit, outdoor fireplace, or receptacle other than barbeque grills or commercially manufactured outdoor cooking/recreational fire appliances.
The following link is an application for an Outdoor Cooking or Recreational Fire Permit. It contains a summary of minimum requirements and instruction for conducting a safe burn. Please print the form or come by Station 81 for an application to apply for your permit.

To get your permit, please stop by Fire Station 81 located in the South Ogden Municipal Building, Public Safety section. There you can set up an appointment for the site inspection. The Deputy Fire Marshal will visit your burn location with the permit, and if everything is in order, the permit will be approved and signed. However, the permit becomes void if smoke from your fire is reported to be causing breathing difficulties or is an irritant to your neighbors. To help avoid this, we recommend you advise your neighbors ahead of time of your intent, your tentative burning time frame, and your pending Fire Department permit. Note: The permit is only good for residence and property within South Ogden City limits. Property owners adjacent to or outside South Ogden City must obtain a permit through the proper respective agency.
